When Willow & Sage, a boutique wellness and self-care brand,, approached us for a full brand identity design, we knew this project would be different. This was a story to be told in whispers, not shouts. A brand rooted in ritual, natural healing, and intentional living needed a visual identity that matched that energy.

A Branding Challenge Rooted in Wellness

Willow & Sage isn’t just another natural skincare or beauty brand. They’re redefining what modern wellness branding looks like, with a focus on slow, mindful rituals, plant-based products, and an earthy, old-world aesthetic.

Our challenge? Create a custom logo and brand identity that communicates:

  • Natural simplicity

  • Grounded elegance

  • Emotional depth and healing energy

  • Scalability across packaging, digital, and retail touchpoints

All while ensuring it felt timeless and truly aligned with the soul of the brand.

The Brief: A Brand Grown from the Earth

From day one, the client had a clear vision. It had to be Nature-Inspired, Minimal, and Scalable. Their brand identity needed to feel like it was grown from the earth.

They were inspired by symbols like:

  • Willow branches

  • Sage leaves

  • The moon and lunar cycles

But they didn’t want something overly literal. They envisioned refined symbolism—paired with a clean, type-driven logo that felt modern yet timeless.

The logo had to:

  1. Evoke nature without being too illustrative


  2. Communicate serenity, trust, and quiet luxury


  3. Be adaptable across all brand formats (balm tins, tea labels, social media)


  4. Fit into an earth-toned, minimalist brand aesthetic

Our Creative Direction: Elegant, Rooted, and Intentional

Our solution is a custom wordmark that is both bold and nurturing, a contrast we carefully balanced to reflect the strength and softness of the brand.

Typography

We started with a classic serif font, then softened it through:

  • Organic letterform curves

  • Intentional weight variation

  • Gentle detailing that “breathes”

This typographic logo design creates space, like a deep breath, while remaining bold enough to lead packaging and digital applications.

Iconic Individuality

We then added two small botanical flourishes, a leaf above the “i” and “g”, to introduce subtle symbolism without overwhelming the minimalist layout.

These tiny details feel deliberate, just like the ritual-based self-care experience the brand offers.

Another Iconic design added was their tagline:

Setting in an airy, modern sans serif, the tagline complements the bold wordmark below while reinforcing the brand’s purpose. to offer calm through nature, and healing through ritual.

Color Palette

Color choice matters, too. We selected a rich forest green that goes beyond aesthetics, it signals growth, calm, and trust. The color palette allows the identity to flex across tones: lighter and fresh, or deep and luxurious.

The Final Result: Beauty with Intention

What we delivered was more than a logo. It was a flexible, emotionally resonant identity, a visual voice that will grow with Willow & Sage across packaging, social media, tea labels, product jars, and beyond.

The two color variations give the brand the freedom to shift tone across contexts, fresh and minimal on light backgrounds, deep and luxurious on dark ones. Both feel timeless. Both feel true.
